Why, how or from where do white precipitation/salt accumulates on sandstone/granite cladding in water features
also in the soft landsacpe areas

- Probably lime deposits from your water.
- Leeching of salts from the stone when wet. If there is mortar, it's the lime in the cement doing it. When you're ready to clean it, use a mild muriatic acid and water solution with a soft bristle brush. Allow to dry. You might then have to lightly dry-brush any remaining leechate. Apply a penetrating sealer with a pump sprayer; it won't change the appearance of the stone but will stop the leechate. Enviroseal is one company that makes a great sealer. I think Thompson's has one as well. It's a pretty simple job on a warm day.
