Next door neighbours water feature help..?
Wasn't sure where to put this decided to put it here and risk any of you being fans of garden features and telling me to get lost lol. Anyway I live with my parents and last year our next door neighbour moved in a man in his 60's and he's not intended to but he's done nothing but be annoying. He put 3 windchimes up that clashed all day and night with the wind and I tried ear plugs but they were still annoying so 7 months later plucked up the courage to go and tell him I iffered to buy him a cover for them but he kindly said it was ok and took them down. Since then though he's had a water feature thing for a year which he put on the side of his fence that my room is he turns it off at night but it gurgles from 7 am - 10pm everyday. In summer Ive always liked to work in my romm with the window open but the sound if it is just so annoying (its not particularly loud but annoying) I keep my window shut and be hot instead. Not only this but my parents let him covert his car port into a garage (he had to ask cause it meant the house wouldn't be (semi detached) but I can hear stuff banging against the wall everynight which again is annoying lol. Ok I realise that part of the problem is me being over sensitive to these things as a lot of people they wouldn't bother at all! Thing is I can't tell him firstly because i already complained about something last year and secondly he's not all that in the wrong, like I said its partly me. Just wanted some advice really as I can't pluck up the courage to ask him and wouldn't know what to say. *waits for insults off those with water features.*

- I hate windchimes, too. No advice, just commiseration.
- Well I sympathise but it is not your house..so you will have to put up with it. Can't you "tune it out" it seems like you are listening to it...if there were a stream outside your house you could do nothing and would accept the noise..try to do the same with this.
- How many bedrooms does your house have? Is there another bedroom you could move into? I have no idea what else to do. I think like the other person said you might be just listening for it, instead turn some music on and focus on what you are doing instead of tryin to hear the neighbor. I think it's really nice of him to turn it off at night though. Good luck, sorry if I didn't help any
- Buy an air conditioning unit for your room in the summer. I don't really think you can complain but to be honest what you mention would drive me up the wall. I had the same problem with wind chimes. Personally I think its noise pollution. My neighbours have put in a water feature last summer but it hasn't been on much and like you my room is nearest. It will drive me nuts in the summer. But it could be a LOT worse- loud music all night , screaming kids..
- i got a water thing and chimes outside my window too...i just lie there n imagine im in a spiritual pieceful oriental garden, with a stream and chimes n then im asleep.....dont try to block out the sounds..i found that it made it worse. just go with it..and visualise, use it as a tool..look forward to hearing the sounds every night so you can take yourself away somwheres nice and peiceful before you fall asleep.....enjoy ill be sitting by the sunlit stream. .im the one in the robe, meditating by my bike lol if you wanna cuppa tea n a cupcake lol tc
